I mean, I'm a sucker for it too, and I came of age when that's just what teevee looked like. My youngest craves horror, horror of all kinds, but if she sees the tracking go off on a pretend VCR she recoils as though from a serpent.
I already liked all the concepts that went into Backrooms, I can see the different threads it gathers together and I think it's a great configuration for threads broadly. It's very back-rooms-y; if somebody else had made it aside from Kane Parsons it would have been less so. If it had been the typical Hollywood licensing excursion, most of the film would have taken place in Chipotle or something and we would have seen a back room at the end. This is an unrelenting amount of aft rooms and then bonus rooms later. I prayed to God it would stop but this mofo was determined to spook.
There was a lot of hot indie stuff on the floor, and I saw a game made in Brisbane called Bumper Bout that I suggested on social might be a great final round of the Omegathon someday. I don't find out the secret game until just before the final round, I like to be surprised also, so when it ended up being the final round I laughed aloud. It's a competitive pinball game with really smooth play and unique powers; it comes out on the 30th but you can grab the demo or wishlist now and you absolutely should.
(CW)TB out.
