Okay, so, when we were writing this one - which we thought was surely the last of its ilk - we were texting about these "Goons" in the first panel and came up with a way to make it even more stupid. Dumber than ever! And it was already pretty Goddamn dumb.
I don't have, like, a sponsor code or anything. I just think that if you used to like comics, or you do like comics now but not going to the store, and especially if you want to know what James Gunn is going after with his newest stuff you might have a lot of fun with DC Universe Infinite. Shit man, I'm still in the free trial. Start with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which they're basing the new movie on - a kind of sci-fi road movie, the writing is incredible. Follow that up with Absolute Batman: The Zoo, and literally try to stop. You're probably gonna want to read comics all the time and they have tens of thousands of them.
I can read a whole comic book in like three seconds because I don't see art. Some people have aphantasia, where they can't picture things in their mind, and I have the opposite - I can't see art (waves hand around) out here. If they're willing to let me read a trade paperback every few minutes, that deal is completely upside down for them. I guess they're just files on a computer somewhere and it's money that they wouldn't have had otherwise, but I feel like I'm robbing them, which… makes it a good product?! I don't know. Feels rude!
Ronia was the wrong age for Marvel's cinematic heyday; she came online for Loki And WandaVision, right in time to see the MCU treat viewers like it owned them - like it had some right to their time and money. I've been showing her the old stuff that's worth it, especially the Captain America movies, which I think she avoided because she assumed they would be heavy handed or hard to get into. But now she's out here making Stucky edits. So.
(CW)TB out.
